Seculiar

By Glen Armstrong

You summarized it in just one word:

“Clear," and we raised

our children amid the whales

while their friends were praising God

by coloring His robe light blue.

We thought of ourselves

in the manner that chickens and ducks

think of themselves,

occasionally as the low flying Canada

goose might.

We were too of the world to question

our place in it.

Every winning smile was a baring

of fangs.
