This is me now

Once I was young,

My mind was busy

in something else,

I was trying to

understand the logic

of the world,

I was deaf

and blind,

I did not understand

I was given this body,

I did not pay attention

to the call of my

aching flesh,

after almost three

decades,

many parts hurt

and I still wonder

where was I,

when this happened,

I take many pills,

I try to heal,

but can't change

what happened to my body

and the presence

of the pain

is an ugly reminder

I was not aware.
